Yes, that makes a lot of sense..

I've been playing it over and over again since acquiring it on vinyl today - I'd forgotten how good it is and the vinyl quality makes another HUGE difference...

DANX GROD!

I remember the 1st time I heard Widh You Were Here on CD, not long after the introduction of the format.

I was overwhelmed by the sound I heard. I heard that cough that comes in right after the radio is being scrolled thru the stations. I whough someone was in the room with me.

As much as I still love vinyl (I do have 2 turntables and a microphone) I love CDs more.

And MP3s (as long as they are converted at a high resolution) sound fine to me.

Cheers!

I buy plenty of CDs, but don't much like them.

MP3 is convenient as you like and as a day to day is a hell of a lot easier than any other fromat, but I do believe the sound quality of vinyl is the absolute tits!!!

Colossus

I had a big problem listening to the older Pink Floyd stuff cos it was so far removed from The Syd years. I LOVE Piper at the Gates of Dawn.

As an unabashed and never likely to change Pink Floyd resistor and hater, god it was awful to hear that tosser Walters at Glasto a few years ago I literally couldn't get away from the turgid nastiness of it. I do however remember being tortured till my ears felt like they were never going to hear anything worth hearing in months by Piper as a kid in the late 70's early 80's along with many other Floyd monstrosities. That said Vinyl almost always sounds better especially when listening to Reggae 7"s or anything with plenty of bass on it really. The thing is clarity isn't everything as those that love digital crispness seem to want, I don't have to hear all the background stuff that makes up the hiss or stew that makes the tune sound good. as for the mp3 the great thing is the portability of the Iplod that lets me carry round at the moment 5000 tunes with me to work without risking losing or having anything stolen!!
So yeah listen to that Vinyl just not Pink Floyd!!!

Well, Floyd have always polarized opinion. I do agree that they've produced some overblown and pretentious cack. But this early stuff is FUN FUN FUN as far as I'm concerned..

MP3s are wonderful from a portability point of view and I also love the idea of having a few thousand tracks in my pocket at all times - though I use a phone with a 4gb card rather than ipods - in fact I hate ipods and Apple products in general..

I have some original issue Beatles LPs and they sound fucking great. Mono - but great. It was hearing these that enabled me to like The Beatles...

fucking apple hater. you're just jealous because you don't own any apple products. though, i prefer the sound of vinyl over my ipod any day. it is just that i can plug in my iPod in the car and at work...just a bit difficult to tote around records...

I'll do some whole separate Apple bitchy blogs at some point...

BUt your right with the vinyl - it's also a pain in the ass to keep on chnging sides and disks every 5,10,20 minutes...

Baku Llama

I have more vinyl than you can shake your stick at. So much that I am thinking of opening a record store/coffee shop! Love the wax... Dylan sez only vinyl has "Stature".

Vinyl? What's that? That's like stuff for old stereo enthusiasts and DJs, right? Can't load a vinyl into your phone, fella. Nyah nyah nyah.
