5 MORE OF THIS WEEKS HITS :: WEEK ENDLING 21ST AUGUST

Current mood: HOOPLA
Category: HOOPLA Music

10 down and many more to come. Yes, the hits are flying off the shelves this week...

I guess I'm trying to get on terms because the next couple of weeks are gonna be ram jammed with the kind of top quality establishment that gives rebel teenagers a bad name..

Yes boss, forthcoming we have words to come on a
Prince aftershow party, an interview with Michael Barr, an Interview with Cylob, a feature exclusive on Martin Carrs Bravecaptain project, more from Clinker & Opera Dog all of which will lead us neatly into 'Stars' Week....

So, lets get with it...

OK, well if we're talking of The Van Allen Belt
, we also need to be talking the experimental instrumental project from the writer/producer of The Van Allen Belt. B K Ferris. This is high quality disco fusion punch, one track of which sits as my profile song...

Powerage are a bunch of kids playing ACDC.

On the surface this sounds uninteresting, but just check the voice!! Is this really a 16 year old?? And is this really LIVE???? Shit this kid sounds more like Bon Scott than Bon Scott! What was this child weaned on? 40 fags and a bottle of whiskey a day???

Kelly Jean Caldwell describes herself as Black Metal and thank god someones taken the ridicularity out of it. Of course one could argue that this isn't in fact Black Metal at all - that it is infact lo-fi indie/country..But no, it says Black Metal, so it's Black Metal and I like it...

Jayrope are another act who've been taking full advantage of the internet repollution by putting out a whole big bunch of stuff and leaving it to the kids to decide. I ran their player for over an hour the other day and found it to be a very pleasant backdrop for an afternoon...

Lastly, we have the Jazz Funk Soul of Beggar & Co

The words jazz, funk and soul haven't always inspired me, but it's Friday night and if I were going out rather than spending the evening drinking beer and watching Mrs Giovanni sleep, I might well put this on to warm up my loverman jeans.

Yes boss, this is the kind of fayre that tends to get me thinking I might like to be in a New York nightclub in the 1970s, and this could indeed be where I find myself once I get to the bottom of this here case of beer...

So there we go, that'll be it for hits for now. This next week will be characterised by fewer, longer and better pieces, more videos, a few rewinds and the odd bit of drunk crap...
