OK...
So, I left my roundup of the weeks musical events having completed the video with the stars on Wednesday....
What followed, was a nip into see Alexis from Hot Chip DJ at that same place I saw the DJ Hell album covers a few weeks back.
Mr Chip played Phil Collins - In The Air Tonight, Barry White and a number of other more than curious choices, which made me wish i still owned my old tape copy of But Seriously....
I then spent the rest of the evening watching pop videos:
Prince delighted
Morrissey iritated (after a while)
& Serge Gainsborough continued to leave me cold (so you're a frenchman and you think about sex all day long?!? What the hell's so special about that Gainsborough???)
Next up was a few hours sleep, the altication in Lidl and then later on that Thursday, 2 gigs...
The first gig was outside St Pauls Cathedral.
Now, before we go into that in any detail about it, I'll give a big shout out to Micheeky
Born in Japan, exported to England, Micheeky has the astonishing claim to fame of having a picture of her nipple on display in the Tate Gallery.
More important than this, Micheeky is a very talented photographer, and I'm very pleased to announce a series of colaborations are underway between her and the Paul Giovanni Blog...
The first of these was this first LIVE event of Thursday, the Mobile Clubbing 'Flash Rave' outside St Pauls Cathedral...
Now, those of you who have nothing to do big cities might not have even heard of the concept of the 'Flash Rave' so I'll explain.
Basically, we're talking the same as Flash Floods except people rave rather than the water cascade...
Yes boss, 'Flash Raves' are raves where everyone has their OWN music on in their OWN headphones. A place and time is sent to everyone on a mailing list. Everyone assembles at said place and time and as the clock strikes the designated time (in this case 6.46pm) everyone erupts into their own private internal rave...
Now to be perfectly honest, I've not been quite convinced of the worth of this kind of thing, and in some regards it makes me wonder if the whole idea of youthful rebellion and teenage angst protest is over and done with...
I mean if this is the most outrageous thing the kids of today can come up with then they're pretty damn tamed up and we're all heading for a very dull future.
Yes boss, I really do think the whole notion of youth rebellion has become so controlled and channelled into money making schemes (like Rock 'n' Roll and Music Festivals) that any kind of serious dissent has become a thing of the past...
I mean at least when i was young, the Reclaim The Streets parties involved shutting streets down, digging them up, bashing up cars, putting children on top, putting a grass mohican on Winston Churchill and planting trees and plants in the friggin tarmac....
Well, I guess these things are fine if you take them as nothing other than a bit of fun. They give the tourists something to smile about and plenty of people seem to be enjoying themselves, so why the hell not??
Yeah, why the hell not....
Anyways, I was in the complete wrong frame of mind for it all.
So much so, that I missed the perfect opportunity to get a professional quality picture of myself in front of St Pauls Cathedral grinning like a twat whilst a load of people raved uncontrollably behind me (Mollycoddle it's over to you!!)
So, there we go Mobile Clubbing...
What do you lot think??
