Current mood: TIRED AND WAKING
Category: TIRED AND WAKING Music
It's been a strange week.
I turn up at the office of Kayak Prodcutions on Monday. They said they wanted help with some short films they were doing and because I like the bloke who runs it and because he's a mate of Stephan Merchant, I do him favours from time to time and he does me the same...
I worked on the below video as assistant to the art department. The editing is shit - I mean horror is all about slow pain, not rapid fire trendy film school jump cutting - especially when the music is doing that for you...
Anyway, I get there and when Mr Boss actually gets to his own office, (about a fucking hour after I do) he tells me I'm doing the art department for a short film about Jack the Ripper...
The script isn't all that, but then few are, but I like the idea of setting this whole thing up and rising to the challenge of doing something I'm not really qualified to do. Besides I've got too into drinking vast ammounts at home by myself these last few weeks and a spell of running around and being responnsible to others was called for before i slid to an early grave...
So, over the last 3 days the venue has changed and it's now this private members club in Regent St..
Since this was set in stone, I've been trying to get a feel for it all and this new venue has done most of my job for me, excpeting the detail and I have some stellar super subscribers who are gonna help me muddle through it on the day and it might even be good with them on board...
So, flam aside, this means I'm running round buying shit for props (I asked the Director for £100 and he gave me £150 - I like that way of working) and that this week therefore won't be a good one for vintage Giovanni critique..
I am however able to manage the hits and I would have to say that this week I have a whole bunch of goddamn good pure quality stuff to be recomending...
INFO / BLOGS AND DOWNLOADS
First up here's a few blogs containing some choice and rare stuff for your education and downloading pleasure. They specialise in double rare and scarce guitar/indie/folk/rock/punk and I don't mean the first album by Green Day...
These are by music lovers for music lovers...HOT TIPS!!!

The next blog I'm gonna recommend is by Roger The Record Producer. I have to admit that when i first stumbled across this myspazz I thought Roger was some kind of fucking charlatan trying to part naive band kids with their cash, but then I read the blogs and I found pure gold...
Yes boss, not only are these wonderfully written, but they contain some of the finest stories of times spent amidst all kinds of unkown and well known popo monsters. We're talking people like Iggy Pop (or Jim as he is to his friends) and Queen Producer Roy Thomas Baker, as well as a whole bunch of lesser known stars who burnt themslves a little too heavy on the way through...
A subscription to this is completely worth taking out...
LIVE
I have nothing to go in here this week. I should have been at Glastonbury, but i didn't make it and i've already gone on about that elsewhere...
This queen festival aside, what the hell is going on with all these friggin festivals?? I mean they've become a real growth industry these last few years and everytime I pick up the NME, I see a new one.
I think the whole business is getting out of hand. I mean haven't the kids got revolutions to be mounting instead of sitting around stoned with a £4.50 beer in some cunts nylon tent??
Here's some classic thoughts on the whole festival thing from Mr Mark E Smith..
TSP: You once said that every time you turned on your TV, you saw Primal Scream playing a festival..
MES: Ha ha! It's like a job for life, innit? Just do 20 festivals a year, earn the money, full stop. The moneys good. 'New music stage: Primal Scream' Always makes me laugh 'New music stage: Chemical Brothers.' They've been going about 30 years haven't they? As long as us.
As does the fact that The Fall never seem to be invited to play. What's that all about??
STAPLES
Morricone (with all sorts of things on top)
The Fall
they came from the stars vs reality
Queen
Colossus
Depserately trying to get through the promos - not suceeding...
NEW MYSPAZZING MUSIC
The Lady Killas - Hows about this for a ballsy fucking fornt woman. This I like a lot. SCREAM FUCKING SCREAM!! And I love the way the kids watching in the vid, don't have a clue what to do...
Colussus continue to impress me and I'm meeting up with them tomorrow to talk shit after i get drunk for free courtesey of a DJ Hell lig. Isn't this Melody track (my profile song) not a fucking undiscovered ball busting pop joy???
And hows about this Wierdo Theatre - Playing along to Eraserhead?? I usually have strange compulsions when i watch that freakin film. It's too fucking vivd and I don't often get to the end..
And this somebizarrelabel
Delia Derbyshire is the antithesis of these last 2. Derbyshire was one of those electronic geeks that spent vast ammounts of time making the technology work for so much of what has happenned since. I saw an interview with her once and I loved the way she was apparently BBC and normal and COMPLETELY fucking straight...
Mully on the other hand is completely fucking ACID
Shit...I have so many more, but am gonna save 'em for next week and burn some more candles...
