ROXY MUSIC VS FRANZ FERDINAND

Current mood: WHAT??!?
Category: WHAT??!? Music

When Franz Ferdinand first appeared around 5 years ago, their record company Domino reckonned they were 'Their Roxy Music....'

Now, can anyone tell me exactly what the young Franz Ferdinand have got to do with the chaos of energy that is this performance by the young Roxy Music...?!?

I mean jesus - look at the state of Brian Eno on keyboards and look at the dull one dimensional state of the whole of Franz Ferdinand...

Status Quo
maybe - but Roxy Music?!?

Not only did Roxy Music hav enegy, they also hand songs. And they were cool. None of these things can be said for FF. Who are gash.

FF are about a mediocre pop band with no flair, character or serious guile....

I would imagine this next album will finish them off...

They're also fucking ugly. Which wouldn't be an issue if they had anything else going for them. I was hoping the last album would finish them off.

The second FF LP was one of those LPs that was universally acclaimed without default. Every review barring none was making out it was the most important LP of the decade - it was in fact, straight ahead guffrey...

A friend of an old friend is now married to the drummer Paul, and I saw them play LIVE a few weeks before they were signed (infact they got changed for that gig in our bathroom) - the gig was risable and dull...

Afterwards, I gave the bass player a look that said 'FUCK OFF YOU'RE NEVER GOING TO MAKE IT!!!'

He clearly failed to pay my look any attention at all - which makes him an even bigger c+*t...

YES BOSS, I MUCH PREFER IT WHEN EVERYONE PAYS FULL AND COMPLETE ATTENTION TO EVERYTHING I SAY ABOUT EVERYTHING!!!!

Record labels shouldn't say this kind of bollox. Its obviously bullshit. Roxy were one of the best most influential bands, with an amazing frontman and look at what Eno went on to achieve. The first 3 albums are just amazing!

We can forget they did Avalon...er hmm, though by todays standards its still a good pop album I s'pose.

Virginia Plain one of the greatest singles ever!!! FACT.

Interesting fact, Bryan Ferry once auditioned for King Crimson after Greg Lake left in 1970 (?). He didn't get the job thankfully, or we wouldn't have got Roxy Music (though the combination of Ferry/Fripp sounds like an interesting one too).

Check also Manzaneras 801 (Diamond Head or Live).

Thanks for the tips...)

I'm a late starter on Roxy Music having been put off of them by the later day Ferry...

I'm now running after them with a large and musical fishing net...

I think part of the reason Domino thoght FF were Roxy Music was because they are a bit art school/foppish...

Roxy Music had great album covers, too.

And 'For Your Pleasure' is a cracking LP.
