I'd love to have seen them in their peak - I've heard they're not so good LIVE nowadays...

Yeah, I heard they had a few personell problems. I guess that's inevitable after all those years. I get the impression they are very particular and thorough which is gonna make those kind of issues all the more likely...

I read one a very long time ago, but from what I remember it was by an author who had no direct connection to the band..

The programme the clip comes from is Tomorrows World and the narrater is Cliff Michelmore, I clearly remember seeing the show when it went out in '75 I was about 10 years old and I had to have that record and a couple of weeks later it was mine on a Top Of the Pops compilation album with a busty woman on the front and played by some bleeding covers band who didn't have any synths!!!! Still what did I expect shopping at Woolworths!!
A great great clip!!! I might have to have a dig around to see if I still have that ropey old LP to hear how badly they do it again!!

yes your right tomorrows world so mad i love that shit, i love futurists who make noodlehead predictions that r so off the mark they never come true, nostalgia 4 futures past its crazy man i feel so ripped off from what they told us when i was a kid wed be speaking 2 our computers(& it would work)& wed be living on the moon by now like in 2001! fuck no synths ripped off,it probably sounds good my fav kraftwerk cover is by a nominally guitar band zoot woman @ least they have synths & 1 of the dons of modern music 2 operate them, their version of the model rocks the house big time when i dj i always give it a spin definite crowd pleaser.

I remember those Top of The Pops compilations - so cheap and so cynical, but in the days before the internet, getting ahold of the decent stuff was very much harder....

really i remember my cousin had that album autobahn when i left school in 75,the single was on the charts here so it was easy 2 get,it was such an eye opener,b4 that i thought the 1st electronic album i ever bought in 74 by tangerine dream was cool but kraftwerk sounded almost punk in comparison.i was so lucky 2 have pple around me who were a little older & knew the cool stuff,1 of my mates older brothers had all this garage punk shit like the count 5s & he turned me on 2 so much all that early ny punk, cleveland shit like pere ubu the works he did mail order he was the 1st real collector i ever met,i decided then in 76 2 model myself on him he had the most catholic taste ever, lots of cool electronic shit he pointed me back 2 kraftwerks earlier stuff so cool.

I came along a little late to absorb Kraftwerk the first time and only really caught up with them in the late 90's. I was listening to their first 2 LPs last night - If they'd been released today they'd have been considered to be cutting edge...

Rex my favourite cover of Kraftwerk is also the Model but by Big Black who took the noise to another level and the intensity of Mr Albini is always gonna take my breath away, oh no another bad german music pun!! Tsk Tsk!!
