One man bands have a strange reputation.

In the UK they most often conjure up an image of a strange bearded man marching up and down the seafront or high street wearing his instruments, giving strange looks to small children then stopping occasionally to ask for small change..

Theo (real name, Sam Knight) breaks that mould..

I am a solo artist who performs under the name of Theo. Theo is my band. My music: I play guitar, looping each intricate motif over each other forming complex sounds. This leads me on to slinging my guitar on to my back as I play drums over the top. At points it can look improvised but each second and sound is pre-conceived and honed down to the clearest possible note. I’m a math rock inspired post rock contemporary sonic artist who just yearns to explore my music and for others to listen and appreciate it.

It’s clever, and sounds good ’n all...


Moving on...

I don’t like to say too much about the Middle Easts most prominent democracy, largely because Israel behaves like a nazi state and is (as things currently stand) the only Middle Eastern country to own and manage nuclear weapons (the Israely who pointed this out was banged up for years - how democratic?!?)

But, given that we’re on a drums led tip here and I wouldn’t imagine Dirty Drums to be great fans of their motherlands attitude, here’s a quick mention of Dirty Drums.

Dirty Drums is just what it says it is: Someone playing the drums in a dubby and rather dirty fashion. Nothing complicated, but a nice backing track if you need one...


Deleplage aren’t that drum led, neither does there country of origin call in airstrikes to tackle small arms fire (well not very often anyway), but they are a rather soothing Sunday afternoon pop band from Canada...

Canada seems to be knocking out a bit of quality music at the moment. I don’t know what that’s all about, other than that the spazzingnet has allowed it to become more obvious that good music happens elsewhere than the immediate cities most involved in the music business...


Likewise, The Ukraine isn’t a country very well known for it’s international musical prowess, but here’s a peculiar and intersting act from Kiev..

Crocodiles in Tights are the kind of get up that initally seemed to be all about novelty: Twins?!? Girls with boy faces, Minimal Casio Sounds, Peculiar Sexual Fantasies?? The Ukranian White Stripes?? (are they, is they, how does it all work????)...

But I think there’s a little more going on than the novelty. I like the simple sequencing and I like the sounds...

	Colossus	Like the sound of Crocodiles in Tights...gonna listen to em in about 30 odd mins...left another few comments regarding the chartiy blogs so go check em. 	Colossus	The sounds are cool...it's not quite background music though thats how it seemed when I first listened to em. They should get in touch with David Lynch...some of it is really quite errie and out of my comfort zone. I don't feel compelled to add em but that might change after another visit or two...
