First up, here's former R&S & Rephlex stalwart ace producer Mike Dreds Synthesised Beat Project.
''During the final 2 weeks of January 2005 I complied a web project for a little festival in Edinburgh.
This project was based around significant contributions throughout history to The Synthesized Beat.
I racked my brain and noted down around 700 names. I scoured the net and sourced links for as many as I could and built 'ghost' pages in case the source pages ever disappeared (many have).
Last week, I found the files and have begun making the project public so that you can see it evolve over time.
There are currently 4 active dynamic pages with 4 more almost ready to go.
Each page will hold around 60 names.
Initially, the names fly back on the screen and when you click, they all rush forward.
The one that you connect with slows down, brakes and reveals a link for you to click and view a static web page.
Where possible, there is a photo of the subject and relevant text.
The initial pages are kind of alphabetical but further additions will not be. That's the beauty of it. It's a wonderful coexistence of radically different characters sharing a common interest side by side on a page.
Occasionally, you will click and a name will fly toward you that you may never heard of before, or are really curious about and maybe have vague memories of.
The History goes back to around 2000 B.C. It's not a band thing. It's anyone who has / had an influence on the Synthesized Beat.
This could get out of hand and sure, a lot of the info might be erroneous. But over time this can be updated, possibly by creating static pages on wikipedia for the community at large to update.
Don't get anally retentive on me. Just enjoy it and feel free to suggest a reference if you don't see the person or persons involved.
If you are on a page and the info is wong, mail me with up to date blurb."
Mr Dred is a very busy man at present - go here to float through his world of projects and go here to find his myspace...
