Oh jesus...
I've got £2000 in my pocket for selling my body to drugs and there's an air of barely contained excitement around Fort Giovanna...
Yes boss, when that kind of money is rolling around my amateur bank account, all hell generally breaks loose - and I'm proud to report I've spent about £500 already..
I'm so rich I even paid the 3 month overdue electric bill!!!
Of course the first shop stop was the record shops. This is my natural response to cash arriving in my pocket START BROWSING AND FIND SOME NEW FUCKING TUNES THIS INSTANT!!!
Now, I don't need any more tunes (I already have a backlog half way to Carlisle) but this is no excuse for taking ones finger off the pulse. Yes boss, like any good government or corporation, the PGC needs to maintain a pool of labour (in this case musical) into which to dip at will..
New additions to the archive include the following CDs:
Anticon Label Sampler 1999-2004
Test Icicles - Boa vs Python
Strapping Young Lad (promo)
Drift Records - The Drift Collective
John Cale - Perfect (promo)
The Can - Monster Movie (promo)
Hadouken - Leap Of Faith (promo)
Trabant - Emotional (bought purely for the cover -wtf??!!! - the guy at the front in particular - what's he grabbing and why does he look surprised????)
Bollywood Breaks - Sampler (Track 8 - Temptation is a blinder - the kind to play 10 times on the spin everytime you're considering it...)
50 Uplifting House & Garage Anthems (these kind of discs are usually scratched to fuck due to the previous owner being too consumed in having fun to be able to take care of basic cd maintenance tasks - they are also often crap - but this is BRILLIANT VOCAL HOUSE & GARAGE!!)
REVIEWS MAY OR MAY NOT FOLLOW DEPENDING ON WHETHER I CAN BE ARSED AND WHETHER THE DISCS INSPIRE THEM
Notes on record Shops at the arse end of 2007
Record shops are becoming the very strong domain of the wierd and anal. There was a guy in the shop yesterday who was sorting all the records in the murky bargain basement. He didn't work there - he was just SORTING IT OUT!!
A few years ago, record shops used to be the domain of spunky young hipsters - now they're becoming antique galleries for the freaks - I like this. I hate trendy cool folk and love the wierd and wild ones..
But seriously there has never been a better time to acquire vast ammounts of music on the cheap. I picked up 100 Classical LPs on ebay for £4.99 - (4.9p per vinyl LP?? - that's sick!!)
Anyway, tonight i'll be getting solemnly drunk á casa whilst pondering how england aren't in the Euro FUCKING Finals, and tomorrow I'm going to see...
COME ALONG WHY DON'T YOU??!!
