It's one of my all time favourite videos...

I like Bill Butts simple and clear style throughout, but this one tells you everything you need to know about the song, but might not understand from just hearing it and that is surely the point of the music video..

I'm surprised it didn't get airplay in the US especially when Tammy was involved...

It strikes me as being a piece of work from a band at the peak and ease of their powers...)

Emily

It didn't get any airplay on radio really (sad) but MTV would play it on "MTV Street Party" and "Club MTV." Those were the only shows dedicated to dance music in the early 1990s on MTV (now there is even less programming on US MTV, amazingly enough).

It struck me as being ideal for the American market and i think that was where it was aimed, but i guess they didn't quite get it targeted right and/or have the right business and promo in place....

Tammy in an interview on CMT (which played the video only once) said she herself didn't have a clue what the video was about, but that she was so taken with the kindness bestowed on her by the KLF and had so much fun making the video that none of that mattered to her. Like Loretta Lynn, Tammy was one of the few C/W oldsters unafraid of Nashville. (Loretta blasted the CMA for ignoring even a nomination for k.d. lang, who walked away with many Grammy Awards in the C/W category when she was still in that genré. The Oscars and most all awards shows are just as prejudiced.) Many in Nashville even tried talking Tammy out of performing with the KLF because of "image damage" reasons.

The U.S., my friend, is non-prejudicial in only one field: violence.

Yes, I've read that Tammy had no idea about any of it, but like you say she was clearly one of the few who could and did do what she wanted rather than be shoved around by people who are paid to talk guff about image...
