FROCK 'N' ROLL....

Current mood: WASTING MY DAY ON MYSPAZZ WHILST OTHERS CHANGE DA

So, that was all rather furious...

The result is the crystalization in my own mind as to why I dislike acts like Quoasis and whatever the fuck that band of yesterday (let's call them The Yesterdays) are called....

It's the idiot petulance. The sticking two fingers up at the Paparazzi = some kind of statement thing. The I'm a big boy REBEL because I wish cancer on a bunch of complete strangers routine....

Maybe this kind of thing used to have power, but now it's just childish idiocy..

Yes boss, my specific problem with Quoasis has always been that their brand of Rock N Roll has consisted of nothing more than bullyboy nonsense posturing - the same kind of thing you see on the school playground. They've always been full of yob youth mouth and that's about the size of it.

This last few days, I've been trying to think of one ACTUAL Rock 'n' Roll thing that Quoasis have done and the best I can think of was a time Liam alledgedly flicked ash onto Mick Jaggers head at an award ceremony...

I'm not even sure if that happenned or whether he flicked it in his direction from a distance, blah etc blah blah etc. I mean obviously the towers of babylon were flexing under the sheer power of the gesture and it was nice to see Jagger get a little back, but yeah RAGE AND ROCK N ROLL!!!!

There was also, as someone reminded me this morning, the time Oasis wished HIV on Blur - Again, pure rebellion that!! Proper hardcore don't give a fuck non PC stick the BASS IN YOUR FACE GENIUS!!!

So, here's some news you probably already know.

For her sins, Mrs Giovanni works for one of the biggest paprazzi agencies in the country and for my sins I therefore know all about Liams 'rages' at the paps, about the contrivance of it all, the pre-arranged phonecalls, about how Liam is seen as a proper 'good boy' because he makes the real ugly money cunts in that game lots of money. They love Liam - he's their little brown eyed dough boy...

Do you know what I mean
??

It's the vacuosity of it all that annoys me and the subsequent realisation in my own mind that Rock 'N' Roll was never supposed to be any kind of revolution - it was never supposed to have substance. It's a simple hormonal release of teenage angst and an entertainment business. It's for mouthy kids to let off their rage at the world - rage that is then marketed by cleverly quiet (or in yesterdays case rather more loud) men in the background to very great effect...

The rock stars convince themselves they're saying something and being something important and very occasionally they are, but mostly it's just hormones and clever marketing and....

Well, grudgingly, I have to admit that going on yesterdays evidence, The Yesterdays might well go on to be big. They're classic McGee fayre and he's been very succesful in promoting lipstick rebels his entire career...

Of course at some point their management will drop all the bad boy posturing, do their spell in rehab and move into their country house and good luck to 'em...

It's all just so

ROCK 'N' ROLL!!!

Rock on. This is all just a magnified version of human nature, I suppose? I am always telling people how i refuse to grow up, but the whole exchange of yesterday just proves, once again, that there are different ways of doing it.

I'm big on afrobeat and African music in general at the moment. I know very little thus far, but what I've heard has so much more spunk, substance and fire than more or less all the Johnny Borrell cabaret this lazy old country produces....
