I found another bag of tapes...
This one was in the rubbish shed downstairs..
We've had half our house from that rubbish shed.
When we first moved here to Fish Island, the rubbish was crap - but from about 6 months onwards, there's been a steady through flow of people leaving and leaving behind them untold good quality rubbish:
Stainless Steel Fruit and Veg Rack, Chairs, Tables, A Huge Wardrobe, Coat Rail, Cases, Cartons, Lamps, Electrical Goods, Bikes...
Yesterday, it was a green carrier bag full of tapes.
It was left just inside the door - like an abandoned child.
I find this abandonment of musical archives to be very odd...
Yes boss, a lot of the stuff I've picked up on tape of late has been very unusual and scarce - it's not ANOTHER copy of Robbie Williams - Life Thru A Lense.
Some are copies of radio shows or DJ mixes from particular clubs, and the reggae bag I had is rammed full of SUPER RARE tunes that would cost hundreds and thousands to buy any other way - if they can even be bought.....
But these things reach their sell by date - formats flip, space needs to be cleared, babies come, priorities change - and the whole lot goes out to rot...
