Lots of words tomorrow... 3 whole pieces in fact, but today
I is the MTV
(SAID IN THE VOICE OF CAT DEELEY)
First here's probably the best, and definately the most amusing pop video I've seen. It's also a lesson to us ALL to never go running around playing at derelict buildings without a responsible adult present!!
APHEX TWIN COME TO DADDY
Secondly: I was having a Pizza in a high class sunglasses factory in Italy the week before last.Therein, I spent about half an hour watching machines drill minute hinges for £300 pairs of carbon fibre Ferrari sunglasses. The wonderfully calculated and regimental whirr of these high precisige drills reminded me of this very next vid.. Not only does this one more than compliment a great song, it's also the most beautiful pop music video I've seen. AND the most romantic and sensual protrayal of machines since the opening titles to Twin Peaks..
SO TREBLE BRAVO!!!
Both these vids were made by the ever wonderful Chris Cunningham

An unnamed Detroit DJ was just telling me a crazy story about playing in Japan with Aphex Twin a couple years ago. He said Richard James had asked some insane fee just to appear (like $10,000 USD) and then refused to play anything. Instead he started yelling profanity and asian racial slurs at everybody, and then left. He was dead serious about the story. weird...
It was at the first Deadbeat weekender about 5 years ago. Basically. It came time to play his set and he came in parting the crowd like some kind of Jesus and he got to the decks that were occupied by Mike Dred. Everyone was waiting for him to play and he was just laying down behind the decks doing nothing and occasionally handing Mr Dred a record...
I've got it on minidisc actually complete with 'WHERE IS IT' 'THERE'S JUST SOME BALD BLOKE!' comments from the audience...
For the third deadbeat, he wanted to play for 24 hours straight or he wouldn't play at all. He didn't play at all..
Two great videos. I got Bjorks surrounded box set which is all the albums mixed in surround sound with the videos too. I still have yet to get a surround sound system to appreciate it but I'm expecting something special. How about a review of her latest album Mr G? Hang on! Pizza in a sunglasses factory? If you like Videos that compliment the music check out "Cornelius" on you tube "Fly" and "Fit" particularly but there all fantastic.
I like that...Getting the media first and equipment second. It shows good intent...
I know of someone who owned a tractor for years, but never had a farm...Now his son has a vinyard and the tractor has been replaced with a brand new one, and there's nothing the grandchild likes more than to sit on it....
Yeah, i was waiting for a friend to finish work, we took the pizza and beer and watched the machines whilst he finished....
I'm a big fan of Cornelius, but have never seen a vid. I'll take a look....
