Just a note to let you know I've now got a new and separate myspace for my book
48 Days in the Nuclear Family.
After being labelled a 'Terrrorist' by the London Evening Standard, the last place I expected to end up working was Britains newest nuclear power station, Sizewell B, but that's just what happenned and 48 Days in the Nuclear Family charts my strange and unusual journey into the dark heart of the nuclear world.
The story has desire, drugs, investigation, power, security breaches, politics, myth and more in abundance. We're not talking fantasy or fake sex noises here, but thick, real life hydrocarbon rich controversy, the like of which is sure to make you turn the page......
The full book will be available on this site over the next few months, starting with the first installment which is currently available on the blog.....

I'd been called an 'Terrorist' by Londons then only daily newspaper The Evening Standard...
I'd been arrested 5 times, worked 7 weeks of 12 hours a day in a nuclear power station, bought 100 ecstacy pills inside said station, taken heroin substitutes to maintain my cover and had the story of the fucking decade...
I then did 3 years in the most expensive city in the world trying to market thiefucking story without a decent flicker of interest...
The Dirty Pretty Things decided they wanted to release their new album the same way as Radiohead. They told Alan McGee and he said "no way".
This is a man that declared that nobody nowadays wants to pay for music, including himself and that the music business need to understand this.
A man of many contradictions, like my old one about claiming My Bloody Valentine were his joke band (a joke band he allowed to spend £250,000 of his money, pre Oasis).
I respect the man for many reasons, but he does talk shit sometimes.
Over time and several episodes, I'm gonna recount one of the most awkward evenings of my recent times...
It started with myspazz...
Upon recommendation I was poking around looking for what myspazz was about. I was at a loose end - generally floundering in London and wondering what the fuck...
So I got myself an account.
It looked fun...
That first weekend, I tried to convince Alan McGee he should quit wasting his time with the music business and get into publishing my book.

You see, I have this book I've written, or at least mostly written about nuclear power, infatuation and drugs.
Basically, a few years ago I worked for the duation of a Refuelling Outage at Sizewell B Nuclear power Station in Suffolk with the intention of writing an investigative/expose book into the very poor levels of SECURITY.
This initially went well, but given it was obvious the place was a liability I took my eye off the ball and became involved with the local folks.
With very little intent on my part, this adventure went on to become a trip into the dark netherworld of heroin recovery, heavy drinking and the purchase of 100 ecstacy pills. Meanwhile, I became infatuated with the Scaffolders voluptuos secretary Laura.
The result is, I think, an excellent insight into both the seedy world of nuclear power and the proud world of a small town community.
So, basically I've sent this out to more than 150 mainstream publishers and agents with no success. Now, I understand of course that, like any creative business, publishing is a tough nut to crack, but I find this lack of success particularly bemusing given that the book is non fiction and the UK government are about to comission a new set of nuclear stations - a course of action that makes this book very relevant.
Perhaps I'm just a bad loser, but it strikes me that publishing is very much in need of a grunge/reformation period. Frankly, no-one appears to be preparred to take a risk, or at least I've not found who these people are......
So, if you yourself fancy taking a chance on an ambitious career in publishing, or know of anyone who's already there or who might be interested in starting, drop me a line and I'll email/mail you the first few chapters and some further information.

I don't dislike McGee - it was good of him to respond at all. Looking at the Creation books list though, I can't see why he thought his mate would go for mine...
My issue with McGee is the quality of the bands he's been promoting of late - nothing more, nothing less...
